On August 25, 1584, the brothers Antonio, Pedro and Jerónimo Valero asked Captain Bartolomé Valero, lieutenant governor and chief justice, for a grant of land for ranches and horses that… "extends from half a league over here of a silleta that makes the big mountain range, which is seen from this city to an old poblezuelo that is in front of the said Silleta…".
In 1964, by means of Decree Nº 3913, the Law of creation of the Municipality of La Silleta was promulgated.
It would be of third category, second class and the communal government would have its seat in the town of La Silleta. But on January 4, 1967, the municipal intendant Bernardo Quipildor resigned and by Decree N° 2533/ 67 it was decided that, until it was framed in what law 1349 determines, the Municipality should be attended by the Municipality of Campo Quijano, to whose jurisdiction it belonged before its creation.
Its camping site has paddle, soccer, volleyball and swimming pool courts. The carnival festival deserves special attention: the tents of La Silleta are well known. Its patronal feast is celebrated on December 8, in honor of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin, in which the whole town gathers for the procession. Afterwards, it participates in the festival of typical food and drinks.
